Sensei Alex Palma, aged 20, is a distinguished Black Belt graduate of the Teen Program and also holds an Adult 1st Degree Brown Belt. As both stepson and dedicated student of Mr. Gomez, Alex embarked on his martial arts journey in 2015 at the age of 10 in Duarte, the former home of MG Martial Arts Academy.

Alex began his training during a pivotal transition for the academy, shifting from Ed Parker’s American Kenpo Karate to Jeff Speakman’s Kenpo 5.0. Despite being the sole youth among adult practitioners and black belts, Alex displayed exceptional commitment and resilience, embracing every challenge—including sparring with adults—without hesitation, even before a dedicated children’s program existed.

In August 2017, Alex expanded his training at Jeff Speakman’s Kenpo 5.0 studio in Whittier, California, under the mentorship of Sensei Berj Parseghian, a 6th Degree Black Belt and direct senior student of Master Jeff Speakman. There, Alex’s skills flourished as he advanced through the ranks of the kids and teens programs.

Throughout his journey, Alex has actively assisted Mr. Gomez in numerous workshops and seminars, including specialized Women’s Self Defense events. In May 2021, when MG Martial Arts opened its Montebello location, Alex truly found his calling as an assistant instructor. His dedication is evident in his consistent presence alongside Mr. Gomez, teaching and inspiring students of all age groups. Alex serves as a shining example of leadership and integrity, earning profound respect from students and peers alike.

As a competitor, Alex has demonstrated outstanding prowess, consistently securing first place finishes in multiple martial arts tournaments. His ultimate goal is to claim the title of Grand Champion at the annual Worldwide Kenpo 5.0 Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada. With unwavering determination, remarkable talent, and an indomitable spirit, Alex’s success is not only anticipated—it is assured.
